Design Trend: A Dash of Mustard

Heading into a new season is the perfect time to make some subtle changes at home, and we found a hot little styling idea for cooler months ahead - add a dash of mustard to give your space a pep in its step!

See what we mean? A dash of mustard can really lift a room, or a corner, to being something special. We love this vintage designer reading chair (one of our mustard-coloured designer beanbags would also be cool here). Mustard also goes beautifully with grey and white, so it's a fave accent colour in Scandinavian-style interiors.

Steal this idea! Painting internal doors is an easy, affordable and awesome way to freshen up the look of a room.

As far as accent colours go, think of mustard as the slightly more sophisticated sister of yellow. It still has the effect of brightening and lightening a space, but with a slightly more grown up feel. And if you're unsure how to bring in your accent colour, throws and cushions, like they've used here, are a great place to start (not to mention an ideal cosy update for Autumn and Winter months).

Know what would look great in front of that white sofa? One of our mustard-coloured designer beanbag ottomans.

Creating a focal point in a room is a great way to reenergise a space (and also a clever way to take the focus away from a room's less attractive features). Keep this in mind: mustard is a showstopper. Whereever it's placed, your eye will be drawn there. Here, the owners have turned an otherwise unused corner into an inviting and stylish reading nook.

The colours of falling leaves (ochre, burnt yellow, gold) are undoubtedly the colours of Autumn. A great way to welcome this restful season into your home is to introduce these colours into your sleep space. All you need is one new piece to totally change the look of your bedroom - above, a cosy mustard throw, and below, a single statement light...

We also love the way mustard works with green, making it a perfect partner for indoor plants.

That designer vintage chair is to die for!

One of our mustard-coloured designer beanbag chairs would also be gorgeous here.

Mustard is also a good option for kids' bedrooms. It's gender-neutral, and although it's fun, it's quite grown up. Plus, it works whether you're going for a contemporary clean look, or a more vintage vibe, like in this room.
